Out of ideas for how to entertain the kids this summer, let alone yourself? Whether you’re looking for some kid-friendly events or some much needed me-time, Phoenix has you covered. Here are some exciting events that are either offered indoors (air conditioning!!) or in the evening. Escape the heat and have some fun!
Westgate Wednesdays-This year, Fountain Park is offering a free, family-friendly series of weekly character themed events with music, dancing, games and prize giveaways. Every Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. kids will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite movie characters, such as Captain Jack, Cinderella, Batman and Elsa! Click here for more information.
Scottsdale Beer Palooza-For the second year in a row, one of Arizona’s most unique beer festivals will take place on June 20th indoors at WestWorld from 1-6 p.m. Kerr Smith from ABC’s The Fosters will be attending to serve his new beer craft and meet attendees. In addition, more than 30 breweries will be participating and there will be a beer-friendly menu (including a special appearance by The Mustache Pretzel food truck). There will also be a life-size foosball table, beer trivia, a movie screen showing clips of your favorite beer-related movies, a huge chalk drawing zone and much more! General Admission ($30) will get you 20 four-ounce samples of beers and a collectible mini-mug. VIP tickets ($50) include 25 four-ounce samples, mini-mug and hour earlier access for special beers. Family Drumming Workshop-Visit the Musical Instrument Museum on June 21st to learn the basics of African, Latin and pop-music hand drumming with master instructor Frank Thompson. After basic instruction, the session ends with an exciting jam session. Drums will be available, but feel free to bring your own if you have them!
