A new year lends itself to exciting challenges, different opportunities, and best of all – a fresh start! With 2015 in your rearview mirror, a clean slate means having the chance to start new and tackle your goals, dreams, and resolutions head-on. To help you stay on track, we’ve come up with a few simplified mantras for approaching 2016 with the best intentions.
It all begins with attitude. The mindset for engaging in new activities, whether positive or negative, will greatly impact the results. Some call it it the law of attraction, but the theory is that outlook we carry in life feeds into things like doubt and stress, but also satisfaction and success. Time to reduce the negative “self-talk”, start bringing the best version of yourself to the forefront and becoming your biggest fan.
A fresh start means anything goes! You know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results, so shake things up and don’t be afraid to fail. Approach a task in a unique way or try something you’ve never done before. Whether it’s asking for that raise or training for a marathon, this is the year to accomplish what you might have been placing on the back burner for a bit. It just starts with a little courage.
As we move along in our careers, spend time with friends and family, and organize our next big move – it’s easy to get caught up in a world where we’re always planning and thinking two steps ahead. What if you made a commitment to be just a little more present in 2016? Perhaps it’s time to take a moment – when your phone isn’t in your hand – and soak up some peace and tranquility. Clear your mind and embrace the moment. You might be surprised by what you find.
While you may start off strong in living out your goals and resolutions, the path to consistency can be hard at times. You may slip up a couple days here and there, but that’s okay. Your plans in 2016 are personal – and as long as you are doing your best to stay on track and not get discouraged – everything will turn out as it should. We’ve all heard it before, but just as a reminder, “slow and steady wins the race”. Now go out there and get ‘em!
