Four Summertime Smoothies

One of my favorite things about summer is the fact that so many delicious fruits are in season. Whenever fruit goes on sale, I like to buy them in bulk because they are so easy to store in the freezer. There are numerous ways to use your favorite summer fruits. I like to start my day with a refreshingly healthy smoothie and I know I’m not the only one (Spotify even offers a playlist called Morning Smoothies). Here are four recipes that can help you cool down during the hot summer.

Strawberry Cucumber

1 ½ cups strawberries

1 cup almond milk

½ English cucumber, deseeded and chopped into large chunks

1-2 tbsp. honey

Squeeze of lemon

This smoothie is great because cucumbers are high in vitamin A, magnesium, potassium and vitamin K, while strawberries have vitamin C and fiber!

Cherry Coconut

2 cups frozen cherries, pitted

1 tbsp. lime juice

1 cup coconut water

Cherries are perfect for a boost in vitamin C, fiber and calcium!

Green Ginger-Peach

2 handfuls baby Spinach

1 tsp. grated peeled fresh ginger

2 cups frozen, sliced peaches (it’s best to slice the peaches before you freeze them)

2 tsp. honey

1 ¼ cups water

Peaches are another wonderful source of vitamin C and potassium, as well as vitamin B-3.

Avocado Mango

½ avocado, pitted

1 cup frozen mango

1 cup almond milk

1 tbsp. honey

½cup Greek yogurt

Avocados are full of fiber, vitamin C and K, and Potassium.

One way to make any of these smoothies more filling is to add nuts, such as almonds, or add protein mix. Got any smoothies to add to this list? Let us know your favorite recipes in the comments.
